Conquest, The First Rider of the End

Herosync Card Creation Tournament

It’s that time again everyone, our 3rd tournament is coming up on Saturday the 29th of May at 8 am PST. The grand prize for this event is working with our designers to create 1 card that will be added to the card pool for the full release of the game. If you ever wanted to leave your mark on a game, creating a card is your best chance!

Once again we are mixing things up for the format (because we like to keep you all on your toes). For this event we are unlocking the deck builder and the first expansion card pool to let players really dive into HeroSync. Players will pick a hero and construct their decks to compete in a Round Robin format. This tournament requires users to submit their deck list at registration.

A round robin bracket is one where each participant plays all the other participants in turn.

For example, if you have a Round Robin bracket with 4 Players – Player A, Player B, Player C and Player D. Here are the matches that would get generated:

Round 1

Player A vs Player B

Player C vs Player D

Round 2

Player A vs Player C

Player B vs Player D

Round 3

Player A vs Player D

Player B vs Player C

We will also have a live stream with game commentary with Rejected Studios Gaming owner Dan Parker and a special guest who will be announced on the day which you can find a link to here

Our signature blob will appear in all the new card artworks as well, fulfilling his placeholder duties until we get funding for full game artworks!

Once again, this tournament is free to enter and play in, and all the cards are completely free! We hope to see you this Saturday. Be sure to join the discord server

HeroSync Tournament 2

Hey guys, we’re getting ready for our second tournament this coming Saturday!

We’re having another tournament, this time for 300 CAD! There will be a slight twist to this one: The top 4 will play out with three chosen heroes (chosen ahead of time). When you lose with a hero, that hero is done and you must switch, if you win with a hero, you must stick with it. The person who runs out of heroes first loses! Minimum Registration requirement is 32, if we have less than this the prize payout will be reduced to 150 CAD.

Once again, this tournament is free to enter and play in, and all the cards are completely free! We hope to see you this Saturday. Be sure to join the discord server!

Also, a quick heads-up: all of the cards available in the 5 starter decks should now have their texts fully up-to-date and in line with each other! In most cases this boiled down to minor syntax or punctuation issues, but still. We’ve also made an edit to the “starter deck meta nerf” on Royal Hunter for now. Previously, the nerf reverted its Power to 60 at the end of every turn you were at Level 4, but that had the potential for ruling headaches with Boost interactions. At present, Royal Hunter simply gains 10 Power instead of 20 when you use a Counter, but we’ll be keeping an eye on him to make sure he hasn’t been nerfed too hard, either. One other notable bit of text clarification for War, Second Rider of the End: its ability to gain 10 Power when an opposing Follower is “killed by an attack” is indeed meant to include attacks that end in the attacker dying, such as those forced by the Sync Reward Devastation of the Second. To make this clearer, the text now reads “When a Follower your opponent controls is killed in battle, this Follower gains 10 Power.”

A HeroSync Tournament & Changes to the Manual Client

Hey everyone!

We’ve been very active over in the discord server, but this is my first time in a long long time posting on here. I wanted to update you guys about our first tournament for the game, as well as some changes made to the existing one.

As always, the game is free to register for and play, and all cards are included, though for now you’re using pre-built Demo Decks. We’ve decided in the spirit of this to make the tournament free, too! As long as you’re in the HeroSync discord server and have a registered HeroSync account, you’re eligible to enter and won’t need to spend any money on the tournament or any cards.

So what can I win?

That depends on entry! At the bare minimum we are giving away a 2014 Yugioh World Championship Playmat featuring The Twin Kings, Founders of the Empire.

What’s more, if we have 1000 entrants into the tournament, we’re giving away the other 2014 Worlds mat as well, featuring Leonardo’s Silver Skyship!

The tournament is on May 1st so this gives time to practice and learn the decks and matchups for your chance to win one of these. We’re planning on holding free to enter tournaments every two weeks which will be announced here and in the Discord Server as they approach with lots of free stuff to win as we build up towards our kickstarter!

You Mentioned Changes?
While happy with the card pool, we’ve made various temporary changes to their effects for the sake of the Demo so that certain matchups are more balanced and workable as there are plenty of cards in the game that aren’t available in the demo decklists. Effective today we’re implementing a few more of these, starting with the removal of the Hidden Mechanic.

The Hidden Mechanic
For those who have been with us until this point, you may be familiar with the now removed “Hidden” mechanic.

Hidden – Hidden Followers cannot be attacked or targeted by your opponent’s cards or Sync Rewards. These cards are not visible for your opponent. They are unaffected by card effects except those that would kill a follower without any specifics about what that follower is. You can attack with Hidden cards. If the Hidden Follower isn’t killed in that attack, the attack is resolved and your Follower is revealed. If you only control Hidden cards, your opponent can attack your Hero. Cards remain hidden until the effect that hides them expires, or they activate an effect or successfully attack. Passive Sync Rewards still apply to, and from, Hidden Followers. Their names are still treated as being in play. Their passive abilities do not apply.

We found that between the manual clients limitations, and the general accessibility of this as a feature, it was better to remove it from the game for now. It may make a re-appearance in the final game, but in the meantime, we’ve reworked four effects, from two heroes:
Becca:
Old:

Scout the enemy (Passive)
The first Level 3 or lower Follower you summon each turn is hidden until the start of your next turn.

Master Armour (Passive)
Followers inflict 10 less Death Damage to your Hero (to a minimum of 10).

New:
Divine Protection (Passive)
The first Level 3 or lower Follower you summon each turn gains 1 Protection Mark until the start of your next turn.
When a Follower you control with a Protection Mark is attacked, you can make your Hero become the attack target instead.

Warrior’s Bond (Passive)
Once per opponent’s turn, when a Level 3 or lower Follower you control would be killed, you can [Discard a card(s) whose total Levels equal or exceed that Follower’s Level]: That Follower is not killed, but still inflicts Death Damage.

Mika:

Old:
Sowing of Seeds (Active)
Summon 1 “Power Seed” Token or “Ghost Orchid” Token. That Token is Hidden until the start of your next turn.

New:
Sowing of Seeds (Active)
Summon 1 “Power Seed Warrior” Token or “Ghost Orchid” Token. That Token cannot attack, or be attacked. That Token cannot prevent your opponent from attacking your Hero directly.

Old:
Overnight forest
Summon up to 3 Tokens from among the following (you may summon the same Token more than once). Those Tokens are hidden until the start of your next turn.
– “Power Seed Warrior”
– “Corpse Flower”
– “Ghost Orchid”
– “Kronium Lotus”

New:
Overnight forest
Summon up to 3 Tokens from among the following (you may summon the same Token more than once).
– “Power Seed Warrior”
– “Corpse Flower”
– “Ghost Orchid”
– “Kronium Lotus”
Those Tokens cannot attack, or be attacked. Those Tokens, do not prevent your opponent from attacking your Hero directly.

The rulebook will be updated to reflect the removal of Hidden as well as a bunch of other quality of life improvements to it! We have also added a ‘play’ option for Drives to make using them more easily understood for newer players.

We hope these changes will make things more intuitive and easy to work with for the remainder of the Manual Demos lifespan. The automated one is really coming along and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.

For any questions about the game, the tournament, or the company we’re almost always active in the Discord server ready to help. If you’re interested in potentially helping out with the tournament as a Judge feel free to DM me as well.
